Why Soft Washing Matters

Why soft washing matters

When it comes to professional pressure washing, several methods and techniques are used depending on the type of surface and the circumstances surrounding it. One of the most common methods is called soft washing, and this low-pressure wash is incredibly important to ensure the safety of your surfaces. It's performed at 500 psi or less in conjunction with a safe chemical solution to gently wash away dirt, grime, and other substances. Keep reading to learn a little more about this method and when it should be used.

When Should Soft Washing Be Used?

The soft washing method should always be used on the more delicate areas of any residential or commercial property to ensure that you get the most thorough clean without any risk of damage to your materials. It should be the only method used for services such as fence washing and roof cleaning, and it also works best for other exterior cleaning services depending on the material, such as vinyl siding for house washing. Regardless of which pressure washing company you choose to work with on your property, you should always make sure that your contractor understands the best industry practices for the best possible results.

What Are The Other Pressure Washing Methods?

Aside from soft washing, the other two main methods of pressure washing are, like the name would suggest, pressure washing and power washing. Pressure washing is used on harder surfaces like brick or stone, and it can be done with either water or the same gentle chemical solution as soft washing. It's a high-pressure wash done at or around 2000+ psi, and should never be used on your shingles or glass since the higher pressure settings pose a high risk of property damage.

Power washing is another high-pressure method, but what makes it different from pressure washing is the use of hot water to clean and sanitize the hardest surfaces like concrete. Another key difference with power washing is that it can only be done with a pressure washer that has a heating element, unlike the other two methods that can be done with a standard pressure washer.
